    1. that must be the old house down by the river. room looks tiny. i have no memory of it at all. just seen the outside as an adult. how did 7, of you fit in such a wee house? well, plus, i was there for 10 months, before we moved to strathearn. which makes 8. always had too many kids, not enough bedrooms. makes us humble.

  2. Hey, it wasn't that small! I don't think we ever figured out the square footage, but the main floor had kitchen, bathroom, living room, small front porch, and two bedrooms at the back, plus two bedrooms upstairs, l large room where George and Allan lived, one small room for whoever got to it first. My brothers were two residents of the little room, first Sandy, then Bob. We always had more people than just our own family. My brothers boarded with us, I can't remember what George and Allan did, probably had a hot plate, and ate with us lots of the time too. Charlie Stephen came every Saturday on his day off and spent the whole day with us too. And sometimes brought a friend he worked with at the University Farm. Seems to me all I did was cook..... Charlie always brought a jar of whipping cream. Everybody was well-fed, nobody ever went hungry in our house, that's for sure. And I had a big garden at the back, which space Dad made into a skating rink in the winter for the kids.
